On the evening of 6th March, teacher Hong Xixi and all the other teachers jointly read and appreciated the classic prose collection 'Me and the Earth Temple' by Shi Tiesheng.
To begin with, 'Me and the Earth Temple' is a book of life written with deep affection by Shi Tiesheng, including a great many popular essays such as 'Me and the Earth Temple', 'The Mimosa Tree' and 'Autumn Memories'. In the book, Shi Tiesheng found spiritual sustenance in the place called the Earth Temple, depicting the years spent in its company with delicate brushstrokes, and recording profound reflections on life, family affection and love, as well as broad insights into fate, suffering, in addition to life and death.
Furthermore, at the sharing session, teacher Hong Xixi passionately recited the classic passages from the book and shared her insights gained from reading 'Me and the Earth Temple' by relating her own experiences, expressing that Shi Tiesheng used his handicapped body to express his most sound and rich thoughts. More remarkably, the reverence for life, the attachment to family ties and the resistance against fate that flowed out of his writings deeply touched every reader.
On the whole, this book enlightens us that even when we are in adversity, we should maintain an optimistic and upward mindset, bravely confront the challenges of life and live out the brilliance of our lives in the meantime.
